16–22 August 2026

STREAM Zadar is an educational platform conceived as a series of professional workshops in the fields of contemporary dance and performing arts, with a primary focus on deepening dance practice through dedicated work and conscious engagement with the body. The workshops aim to introduce participants to tools and techniques through specific research processes, enabling them to further develop their own dance, choreographic and performance skills.

KUNG FU & QI GONG (Andrej Zupančič)

Date and time: 16–19 August, 9:00–10:30

Andrej Zupančič is the founder of Body.Mind Ljubljana, a school dedicated to Qi Gong and Shaolin Kung Fu. In his practice, he combines movement, breath and mindfulness to develop strength, flexibility and inner balance. In his work with students, he is committed to developing physical vitality, mental clarity and a deeper connection with oneself. His approach integrates the principles of inner harmony and energy balance, fostering an environment suitable for practitioners of all levels. He is dedicated to guiding students towards realising their full potential.

During this workshop, participants will explore the fundamental principles of Qi Gong and traditional Shaolin Kung Fu. Through guided Qi Gong exercises in the first part of the workshop, participants will learn how conscious movement, breath control and focused awareness can strengthen the body, calm the mind and balance inner energy. The fluid movements of Qi Gong encourage relaxation and the flow of energy, with particular attention given to proper breathing, posture and vitality. The second part of the class introduces the foundations of Shaolin Kung Fu. The emphasis is placed on strength, flexibility and coordination. Through fundamental techniques, forms and dynamic exercises, participants will learn how to connect physical strength with mental focus and apply the principles they have learned in everyday life.

POETIC BODY (Milan Tomášik)

Date and time: 16–19 August, 11:00–14:00

Milan Tomášik (SK/SLO) is a choreographer, performer, dancer and teacher with an international career in dance and the performing arts. He is a co-founder of the Les SlovaKs dance collective, with which he creates and performs internationally acclaimed works. His choreographic experience includes works for companies, theatres and schools, the performance trilogy Hunting Season, Silver Blue and Fight Bright (Milan Tomášik & Co), as well as the solo performances Within, Off-beat, Solo 2016 and Arms That Never Knew Me. He also created the performance Treatise for Krakow Dance Theatre in Poland. He was an associate artist at Scenario Pubblico in Catania (IT, 2018–2020) and the artistic curator of the Out of the Toolbox workshop festival in Ghent (BE, 2022).

The POETIC BODY workshop focuses on a body that is fully present, alive and engaged. The workshop builds on the experience of the previous Happy Feet and Playful Presence workshops and draws on inclusive approaches and techniques from contemporary dance, improvisation and composition. It incorporates the concept of the body as an instrument or medium capable of expressing and embodying different qualities of movement, rhythm, tension, emotion and the intangible. The poetic body refers to the ability to perform any desired action fully, passionately and with ease. The body awakens and adapts to the moment and the space through various games, Qi Gong principles and connection with oneself and one’s surroundings. In a friendly atmosphere in which differences are respected and individuality is nurtured, the potential for learning is immense, making even the most sophisticated movement feel effortless. The workshop emphasises rhythm and musicality, with particular attention paid to the articulation of different body parts, precise execution of movement, footwork, jumps and pirouettes. Milan Tomášik, a master of instant composition with more than twenty years of experience, will guide participants through techniques that enhance presence, awareness and creativity within performance.

FLYING LOW & PASSING THROUGH (Nina Fajdiga)

Date and time: 20–22 August, 10:00–13:00

Choreographer and performer NINA FAJDIGA graduated from the School for New Dance Development (SNDO) in Amsterdam in 2007. She received the Young Choreographers Award at the ITS Festival in 2006 for the performance Debris. Her works (Freedoll, Debris, Sugar Rush, About Nina Simone, …and call me Antonia) have been performed throughout the international dance scene and supported by the European Cultural Foundation, the Slovenian Ministry of Culture and the City of Ljubljana. She leads dance workshops in the Flying Low and Passing Through techniques, founded by choreographer David Zambrano, as well as dance composition workshops. Nina teaches at the Secondary School for Contemporary Dance in Ljubljana and at other European institutions.

In the FLYING LOW dance technique, dancers develop a strong connection with the floor. Through different ways of moving and the use of the floor, spirals and speed, every part of the body becomes involved in the dance movement. The body is guided by the voice, allowing dancers to play with gravity and learn how to fall, rise and control their bodies using spirals, all speeds, directions and levels of energy. PASSING THROUGH is a dance improvisation technique that represents a group in space—a network of people who are interconnected at every moment. By playing with dance and composition in the present moment, the group begins to create flexible dynamics and unpredictable patterns that, despite their flexibility, are formed according to very clear rules. The dancers imagine the space as being filled with endless pathways passing through walls, the floor, bodies and other elements. The PASSING THROUGH method is a dance improvisation technique that represents a specific group in space, a network of people who are connected at every moment.
