The 12th edition of MONOPLAY festival in Zadar takes place with respect to all the necessary measures in August
The 12th edition of the MONOPLAY festival of dance solo will be held from 24th to 28th August in Zadar. This year’s edition brings a series of dance performances made by renowned national and international artists. Given the epidemiological situation, and under all the recommendations, the festival will be tailored to the criteria. The number and scope of performances, the capacity of the hall and everything else will be adapted, ensuring maximum safety for all the visitors. The festival program, on the other hand, continues to the same extent as in previous years.
‘In this uncertain scenario, we had some time to notice once again what was important to us and to rearrange our priorities. For most of us the ideas (that feed us) remained at the top, and the contents we filled our time with proved that, once again, nothing can replace a ‘’live’’ performance. For the Monoplay festival not to happen was not an option, at no point. Full of hope, we have continuously been planning and organizing the 2020 edition of the festival, and we are pleased to announce it. The festival is somehow special, yet again, because the World around it decided to play with the term solo. Because the personal space has been redefined as the only space, changes in the ways of functioning seem possible, and one can lead hundreds. Because we dreamed and it happened’, says Petra Hrašćanec, one of the artistic directors of the festival.
We are announcing the festival program soon. The main program will take place at the Puppet Theater in Zadar, as well as in front of the Theatre at Poljana Branka Stojakovića. In order to provide the audience with completely safe access to the performances, a part of the festival program, i.e. the main performances will be played two times in a row. Tickets for all the performances will be available online.
Before the festival, from 6th to 23rd August, an educational platform STREAM Zadar will take place. It is an event that offers young dance artists an opportunity to work with and learn from some of the best dance artists and teachers and to get acquainted with contemporary dance techniques and trends in the field of performing arts. This year’s lecturers are Hanna Hegenscheidt, Aleksandra Janeva Imfeld, Grgur Kovačić and Julyen Hamilton and the workshops will be adapted to the current epidemiological situation in Zadar. Due to that, the number of participants is limited. Should you need any information, feel free to contact us at email@example.com.
