Izvedba Mia Martinović/MONOprint

Poljana Branka Stojakovića

The water surface is the basis for creating a monoprint, a graphic that can only be printed once. Water is poured into a glass vessel that gives a spatial frame to the drawings on the water. Alternate dripping of black ink and diluent creates circles on the surface of the water, similar to those created by a pebble thrown into the sea. The paper is placed on the surface of the water from which the water drawing is translated and stored on paper. The process of making a monoprint is repeated during the performance in the same way, creating a different image each time. The creation of the monoprint is projected onto the stone wall via an overhead projector and followed by sounds that are generated through the act of performance.

Mia Martinović graduated in 2020 at the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb with the project Archive of Performing Arts. Through architecture, film and art, she explores spatial and temporal perception in an attempt to create new experiences. She exhibited her first artwork in 2016 at the ORIS House of Architecture at the exhibition Black through a Prism. She is one of the winners of the 2017 Museum of Illusions competition. Since 2019, she has been a member of the Zagreb Cinema Club, in the production of which she works on 3 author’s films: Taste of Space, Pixie and Representative. Since 2021, she has been working as a collaborator on the Mali Zagreb project, for which she designs and makes models.
